Reasons why a new build property is attractive

Many of us are obsessed with getting a property with lots of Gallic charm and character, which for many precludes the idea of buying new build. Indeed for some just the idea of buying new build conjures up ideas of some characterless building that could be purchased back home and thus is something of an anathema. However it is not without its advantages too as a choice.

One big advantage of course is that you avoid any hassle with previous tenants and owners, there is one less thing that can go wrong.

And the other big advantage is that with any bona fide development, things will be working. You will not be having to contend with electricity not working, water not working, leaks, a roof that is not functioning as a roof should and so on and so forth.

This alone can be enough to persuade many to buy a new build property, particularly those looking for minimum hassle when making their first French property move. Perhaps they can get more daring later on, but who wants to get burnt by biting off more than they can chew with their first purchase?

There are many other potential advantages too of course.

Buying a new property can give you a lot of control, particularly for those who are in a position to actually design a house themselves and its elements then get it built to taste. Any many developments more realistically for many allow you to choose things like the digures and fittings you want so that your favourite wall tiles can be installed from the off.

New build property in France has a ten year structural guarantee, so this is also attractive as a safeguard. And don't forget that the property buying process in France is very well regulated and particularly protects the purchaser and so the French property developer has to have a guarantee in place for each development, ensuring it will be completed to the advertised standards.
