There are many different financial institutions in the UK that offer mortgage products. Many of these are the well known big banking names such as Barclays, Lloyds and HSBC.But there are many people who still prefer to take a mortgage with the traditional provider of such products, the building society, although there are fewer of these left with more and more consolidation having taken place in the financial market in the last couple of decades, and in the process many building societies having demutualised.
