Egg Banking
It hatched, if you pardon the pun, from Prudential Banking and was launched in 1998. It is one of the largest internet banks, and it is only possible to operate the account using the internet or a call centre.
They offer a range of products and are most well known for their savings, credit card and loan products. They also have insurance products and mortgage products, of most interest here.
At the moment, like several different financial institutions, their website says that they are currently reviewing their range of products and therefore are not accepting new applications for mortgages.
However like several other mortgage lenders on this site they remain listed as there are people who currently have a mortgage product with Egg and as such they remain a mortgage lender to those people.
Their site says that mortgage customers are not affected by the change so their current mortgage will run as normal; there is a phone number to service the account available.
