Halifax Mortgages
In short, it is a massive financial institution itself that is part of an even bigger one.
It is the UK's largest provider of residential mortgages and also of savings accounts, and is of course named after the town of Halifax.
Unusually for the banks it has a large advertising presence and regularly advertises on television with the name Howard being synonymous with the brand for having an ever present role in their adverts for many years.
Before September 2007 it was a separate bank and of course for a long time it was the largest building society in the UK. But it demutualised in 1997, and was once listed on the FTSE 100.
The mortgage section of their website at time of writing says that they have cut mortgage product fees by 50%.
There are links to new mortgage products and also those for existing customers.
In the new mortgage space you can find out about mortgages for first time buyers, those who are moving house and also remortgaging information.
For existing cutomers there is information on renewing a deal, additional borrowing and also help with existing mortgages.
They have mortgage calculators that will help you find out both how much you could borrow, and also to help you choose a mortgage.
