HSBC Mortgages

HSBC are one of the big names in banking and seen on most high streets. The name stands for the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation but has its headquarters in London since 1993.

It is one of the largest companies in the world, being in the top ten at the time of writing and also being the world's largest bank. So by any scale, this is a huge corporation.

It has sources of income from around the world and its advertising plays on the fact that it is adept in all the different markets as it knows the relevant customs and practices and therefore is at home wherever it does business. Their tagline is the world's local bank.

The HSBC group is thought to have weathered the financial crisis in 2008 onwards much better than most providers, and in terms of the financial strength tests applied to banks is said to be one of the strongest.

They have a large range of different mortgage products available, and their website has comprehensive information on these.

One interesting feature is an interactive find and compare calculator that can be used to compare the different types of mortgage product they have available.

There is also information on getting a mortgage quote, on remortgaging to HSBC and the usual range of mortgage calculators.

They have specialist products that relate to overseas property and also to the HSBC premier buy to let. The jargon buster will be of interest to those who are thoroughly confused by mortgage related terms and jargon.
