Finding A Property
To some extent it will depend on budget and also where you want to live. For instance, if you have a huge budget then you will have one factor that is not important. For most people however there will be various caveats, all of which whittle down the pool of potential properties.
These factors include whether you want a semi or detached house (or which floor you prefer with a flat etc), whether you need to be a certain distance from a school, or workplace, and of course most of all with the majority of buyers is what the cost of the property will be.
Finding a new house in this day and age to some extent can be done from the comfort of your own home - there are many estate agents websites that will list properties in your area, and you can also do further research and see what the 'lie of the land' is near a property by using google maps - a great way to get a birds eye view and see if there is much greenery or a park nearby where the kids can play, the visual overview can really help, and even show you how cluttered the area is and get a visualisation of the size of the gardens and so on.
If you are looking to find a property abroad then please read the various pieces of information to do with buying overseas.
So, once you have found a property you are interested in either via a website, or the local newspaper adverts or indeed by going and looking in the estate agents windows, what do you do next? Well, the initial step of course is to view properties, and for ideas on what to look for read our viewing properties page.
