Relocation Agent FAQs
What is a relocation agent?
An expert in the local property market who will offer advice, support and guidance and show you a good range of properties that meet your criterion.
How much does it cost me?
In most countries relocation agents charge no fees to the client who is buying (you!) They get their money from a share of estate agent's commision in most cases (or some other commission paid by the seller).
Should you engage the services of several relocation agents?
No, just use one - then if you are disappointed stop using their services and use another. It can be confusing and counter productive to use more than one at once, and it will no doubt annoy the relocation agent too!
Are relocation agents impartial?
Yes, a good relocation agent will be impartial and they will not lay it on thick with properties where they stand to get good commission relative to other properties they have shown you for instance!
Do relocation agents cover the whole of a country?
Most agents will have a specialist knowledge of a particular area of a country, for instance a reasonably small area of Spain. This enables them to have an expert knowledge of the area, the property there, and the trends. It is very hard to have in one person specialist knowledge of all areas of a country; though a large company of relocation agents may have people who specialise in different areas.
Where do properties relocation agents show you come from?
It depends, but in many cases they are the properties listed at local agents that the relocation agent has built up a trusted relationship with over a period of time. They may also list properties from private individuals who have approached them directly.
