Buying agents: what are they?...

Buying agents are people that you pay to help you find your dream home.

Typically they will have a set fee in place, and then they also take a commission on a sale... this might be around the 2.% mark.

It is quite common for the rich and the famous to use buying agents, but apparently more and more ordinary people ar doing so - that is, people who are buying homes above the £500,000 mark are now starting to consider using buying agents.

If you are having difficulty finding what you are after and what to get expert knowledge and those who are skilled at negotations on board to help you effect your next move, then a buying agent could be worth considering. However most will not want the extra expense and will no doubt continue to perform the often long winded process themselves.

It's an interesting idea, but I think in the current climate most people are looking to cut costs rather than to add them, Propnews!

Infact I think that there is an increase in more and more people who are not using an estate agent but rather are trying their hand at selling their property themselves to save the costs involved.

There are several websites wher eyou can upload your property to them with some pictures etc and I think as long as you choose a site that gets decent levels of traffic and the costs are realistic then you can save a lot of money selling your house this way and not having the middlemanthat is the estate agent taking the not inconsiderable sum that is their fees!

I tend to agree with Mary.

I think that most people are looking at ways of cutting cost in the current climate rather than looking for ways to add it back in.

Sure if you are really rich and want to be pretentious then get a buying agent.

But for everyone else there is no need for this - unless you are totally inept - and maybe overly rich people are - then you can quite easily find properties yourself these days particularly with the internet, so there is no need whatsoever for the vast majority of people and indeed perhaps no need for anyone really to have buying agents or that sort of thing.

I agree its a nice thing that the buyer has not to roam here and there and the buyer agent helps you to take and help in taking the home easily .
