Buying property in Spain...

Hi there,

Just come across this site and wondered if I could get some advice on buying in Spain.

Specifically I am looking to buy a property in Spain with a view to an investment, rather than necessarily living there - though I would be happy to do whilst doing it up long term I would either like to rent it out to holiday makers, or even locals, and then sell on within a few years for a nice profit.

Therefore if someone could tell me the up and coming areas I would be most appreciate. Thanks!

Geoff

If you want an investment property in general then you are better off buying in an area that is seen as up and coming, as you mention.

However this does have some inherent risk as trends and patterns change and this is not always very predictable.

The best bet is to try and analyse property data for each region of Spain if you can get hold of it, and see which area has shown a good increase in the last couple of years but not the highest as the price could already be at its peak.

Also make contact with Spanish citizens if you can or the equivalent of estate agents and see if you can find out from them what are considered to be up and coming areas in the sort of region you are looking to buy in.

Thanks for the information on buying property for investments in Spain, Propman.

The thing is what are the best sources to find out what the housing market has done in different regions of spain in the last year or two: are there spanish property magazines perhaps that I can buy online that tell this sort of information?

The thing is without speaking spanish I don't really know what to search for or what to look for I don't even know what the spanish word for property is.

There is a spanish property magazine I think in the UK but I'm not sure if it has this sort of data in it it looks more to be general articles written by people on spanish lifestyle and that sort of thing.
