Buying property in the USA...

It is pretty hard to talk about house prices in the USA, because like here it depends very much where you are looking to buy.

If you are looking to buy in Manhattan in desirable areas then you are going to be spending a fortune, likewise if you are looking to live on an impressive beachside location in most of California and particularly of course LA or perish the thought Beverley Hills etc then you are going to be paying a small fortune; whilst there are other locations off the beaten track in many other states where land is going to cost you very little at all.

Therefore to cover property prices in America would really require a whole section in itself.
