Apparently it is estimated that Britains now own around about 450,000 overseas holiday homes. That's quite a high number when you think about how many people own homes in the UK!

Of these, there are two really popular places that stand out. These are as expected.

Roughly a quarter are in France and another quarter in Spain -this means that the rest together account fo half, and of that half, half are in Europe. So 75% of property is within Europe, as of course would be expected to be the case.

If you are thinking of buying overseas then it is worthwhile noting that most buy close to airports - and around 75% of properties are within 50 miles of a main airport.
