Stamp duty for first time buyers...

Just in case anyone missed it, the recent budget was pretty much doom and gloom between the lines.

There was one positive note for first time property buyers however.

That positive note is that the stamp duty threshold at which buyers pay no tax on property purchases has now been raised to £250,000 for first time buyers.

Of course, whether this will actually tip the balance in favour of those looking to buy for the first time when they still have the problem of getting together a potentially whopping deposit then being saddled with the mortgage is a moot point, but it is a step in the right direction at least for first time buyers and therefore ranks as positive news for them.
