Update on home information packs...

It looks pretty certain that the new UK government, the coalition between the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats, is going to do a bit of a shake up and get rid of the home information packs.

However there could be some steps before this happens as of course the whole cottage industry that has grown up around HIPs is going to fight pretty hard for their continued existence in some form or other to ensure that they don't have to get new jobs.

Overall this is positive news for house sellers as there is one cost and process removed, for those that buy it does mean again that there is some information that they will need to find out that would have been covered in the HIP but then any responsible home owner would find this out anyway before HIPs came into existence.

It looks like the energy certificate part will be retained.

Read today that the fact that the HIPs have been abolished has led to more properties being put on the market.

The more red tape that is removed the better in my opinion
